Counseling

I strongly believe that YOU are the expert on yourself. That being said, at times it is helpful to have a trained professional to support you in exploring places you may feel stuck in life, unhealthy patterns, and strategies for growing and moving forward. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Addictions Counselor I have training in a number of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Solution-Focused Brief therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I use an eclectic and holistic approach that is tailored to your needs as an individual, taking into account mental, physical, spiritual, and social aspects of wellness.

Some of the issues I have experience helping with are anxiety, depression, grief and loss, feelings of “stuckness,” unhealthy relationship patterns, communication problems, life transitions, parenting and post-partum issues, adjustment to changes, addiction, and trauma.

Art Therapy

“Don’t worry about your originality. You couldn’t get rid of it even if you wanted to. It will stick with you and show up for better or worse in spite of all you or anyone else can do.”
― Robert Henri

Art Therapy uses art materials as a way to express emotions and look more deeply at things. Sometimes we can explore issues in a visual format that we may be unaware of or unable to talk about verbally. The act of creating something can be inherently healing and empowering. You do NOT have to be an artist or know anything about art in order to participate in Art Therapy, in fact, quite the opposite. Art Therapy engages your emotions, thoughts, and physical body and can help you organize and process life issues that may feel out of control or overwhelming. In some cases I may suggest a particular art intervention to support with an area of struggle. Some of my clients engage in Art Therapy, some do not. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions.
